Thanks for the heads-up, I forget about this every year and miss the opportunity.
Unfortunately, it seems that while I haven't missed it entirely, I'm about an hour too late, so I'm enjoying the aftermath and all the folk milling about Argyll Street.
Still, that's still better than I've managed before
I think you were too early actually. The parade of bands did not start until 7p.m.. It seems to get later every year.
They decided to have a set of shuttle buses to take the bands from the pier to the bus park. Have you ever seen a pipeband trying to get on a double decker with all their instruments?
With all the bodies milling about (and neds shouting thanks to the live sound) and heading to the harbour, I just assumed that was the tail end of things.
I went out after posting the above, so didn't see the follow-up until 22:30
Actually, that's about par for the course this week, as I've mananged to miss things even using multiple alarm clocks this week, and arranging to be in places 30 minutes in advance of the time required.
It may be some consolation to know that the system always suffers from bandwidth problems particularly at the time the bands parade down Argyll St.. Mind you, given that the parade takes around one and a half hours you would probably manage to see and hear part of it.
Yes, I know about the bandwidth, which was also why I assumed the best of the show was done, since I managed to get in first time.
It's almost funny to read the GB as the non-techies wonder what's wrong and appeal for help to get the thing working, or dicover the whole thing has keeld over because there are too many attempts to connect.
You have to wonder that there might not be a wee seasonal business or money-making venture in there
