A Christmas tree measuring 125ft tall with about 2,000 bulbs has laid claim to being Scotland's tallest.
The grounds of the Hilton Craigendarroch in Ballater are home to the tree, which it is said can be seen from as far as 15 miles away.
A cherry picker was brought in to place the star in pride of place on top of the Wellingtonia Sequoiadendron Giganteum.
Richard McIntosh, of Hilton, said: "The tree looks fantastic."
He added: "It really provides an authentic Christmas feel to the grounds of the resort."

No comment was made regarding reported requests from the fairy on top of the tree for extra heavy-duty thermal underwear, or cold-weather payments
