I don't think this has come up in here before (or been lost if it did), but the strange an quirky radio series Millport has just started a rerun on BBC7 http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/

It's got a brief mention on our own Great Cumbrae page, and there are some more details to be found at http://www.radiolistings.co.uk/programmes/millport.html

The first episode is probably the best, as the rest tend to develop the themes born there, and get a little surreal to say the least, but there are some humorous highs, and it would seem fair to say that the writer, Lynne Ferguson, has more than a passing acquaintance with the vagaries of living somewhere that depends on ferries and the weather for getting anything done.

If nothing else, listening to it will teach you the wisdom of "no' lettn the dug dae joabbies oan the flerr" if the electricity's likely to go off in the middle of a storm, and leave you wandering around in your stocking feet in the dark

I see Millport is back on BBC7 again, as of Saturday, October 11, 2008, so you've another opportunity to be... puzzled

On the plus side, the BBC iPlayer is now released and working, which makes listening a whole lot easier than before.
